Skyrun takes over Rasin Paints, begins production

Imo State government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with a Chinese company, Skyrun, to takeover the site of Rasin Paints at Aboh Mbaise for the production of electronics and electrical materials.

This is in line with Governor Rochas Okorocha’s quest to fast-track industrialization and create jobs for the youths of the state.

The governor disclosed this to a delegation of Chinese investors, who visited the Government House, recently, according to a statement by Sam Onwuemodo, the chief press secretary to the governor.

The governor disclosed that he visited China recently on the invitation of Skyrun’s, while expressing happiness that the company has already started the production of pre-paid meters, cables, TV and many others at the Rasin Paints site at Aboh Mbaise.

Okorocha thanked the Chinese delegation for choosing Imo State for investment, assuring that the state would support them.

His words: “We shall support you; encourage you; and provide all you need to make your investment programme easy.   “While you try to make profits from your investments, we implore you to create jobs for our teeming youths who will be ready and willing to protect your investment.”

The governor promised that the government would assist any investor by fast-tracking the process of registration, immigration, customs, offices, accommodation, transportation and other logistics.

He enjoined the Chinese companies to take advantage of the situation and invest speedily in the state.

Okorocha disclosed to the investors that Imo State has the highest deposit of gas in the country, stressing that he has made the Imo Industrial Park an ideal place to invest in. He called on them to partner with the state for the establishment of fertilizer plant and petro-chemical industries.

The leader of the group and the General Manager of Skyrun, Mr. Guxin, said that Skyrun is a state-owned Chinese company that has interest in oil, gas, electronics and electricals.

He pointed out that the company has already started the production of pre-paid meters, cables, electronics and many others in the state and will soon commence work on the Imo/Skyrun refinery which an MoU had already been signed with the Imo State government.

Guxin thanked Okorocha for his genuine intention to develop the state which necessitated his coming to China to woo investors. He promised that Skyrun and its associates would soon take over the business landscape of the state and create jobs for the youths.
