Afrobeats singer and songwriter, Joseph Akinfenwa, better known as Joeboy, has disclosed that he became broke at a point in his music career.
The ‘Don’t Call Me Back’ crooner made this known recently during an interview with Dose Of Society.
According to Joeboy, he had to deal with bankruptcy after hitting stardom, as he fell off at a point in his career and went broke again.

The singer went on to say he was telling the story to encourage other people who are currently going through one form of set back or the other not to give up.
Speaking during the chat, Joeboy said; “I’m one of the biggest artistes out of Africa right now but there was a time I hit rock bottom. I had no money. I was so broke, I had to close my [bank] account.
“I just want to use this story as motivation for anybody going through difficulties at this point in time. Don’t try to end things. It can always get better. And that’s for sure. I’m a living example.”
Meanwhile, prior to this revelation, the singer had claimed in a recent interview with The Beat 99.9 FM, Lagos that he has spent roughly N50 million on his girlfriend in the last two years.
He further said he is not certain about the amount he has expended on her, adding that it could be far more than that.
“That was a rough estimate. I said at least N50m. I don’t know for sure. It’s not like I’m counting [it could be more].
“She [my girlfriend] has to enjoy. I’m enjoying too.” Joeboy said.
