In this hilarious video, Simi shows her acting skills through the comic character she plays. Poised as a naive attractive young lady, Simi steals the spotlight of a high-octane gig. Born Simisola Ogunleye, the young talent wrote her first song at the age of 10. Her early teen years saw her honing her skills in the church choir. Her uncanny passion for music would later launch her into the music industry with her debut album in 2008. The album was produced by Samklef and spawned hits such as ‘Ara Ile’, ‘Ogaju’, ‘Iya Temi’ and a host of others.
In 2011, she met the talented producer/songwriter, Oscar Heman-Ackah, and they both connected musically. However, it wasn’t until 2013 that she officially signed a production contract with Oscar Music Production, after which they both nurtured and created a fresh direction to her sound, style and music in its entirety. She eventually signed to X3M Music, the Lagos-based record label which is home to Nigerian R&B sensation, Praiz.
Simi has been on a meteoric rise since then. She won Best Promising Act at the 2015 Nigeria Entertainment Award and the Most Promising Act of the Year at the 2015 City People Award. Also, she has two nominations at the 2015 Headies for Best Alternative Song and Video of the Year courtesy of ‘Jamb Question’.
