Simi counts self lucky given pool of talent in Nigeria’s music industry

Simi also said her husband, Adekunke Gold, does not dictate what song goes into her album, when a curious fan sought to know his role

Ace Nigerian singer and songwriter, Simisola Bolatito Kosoko, popularly known as Simi, has acknowledged the pool of talent in the country and considers herself lucky for making it this far.

The mother of one made the remark during a question and answer session for her last album titled, ‘To be Honest’ where her fans sought to know more about the songs in the piece.

Simi during the chat said she does not take for granted the position she is in, knowing there are so many talented musicians in Nigeria.

She also thanked her supporters for being there for her always, while also thanking God for excelling in her choosing profession. 

She said, “Honestly, I am really grateful because I know that there are many incredible musicians that put in work and want to win. I don’t take the position I am in for granted.

“I don’t think it definitely has to be me because many people also deserve these things. I am just really grateful. I am grateful for my supporters, and I am grateful that I am able to continue excelling at my craft.”

The ‘Duduke’ crooner also said that her husband and fellow singer, Adekunle Gold, did not decide which songs went into the album when a curious fan wanted to know how marriage jas affects her career. 

The fan asked Simi if her husband had a say in the selection of songs on her last album. 

“No. Obviously, his input is very important to me and I can ask how he feels about certain things. But at the end of the day, all the songs and the way they came out was my decision.” Simi replied.
