Shettima arrives New York to attend 79th UN General Assembly

Shettima, while at the event, will deliver Nigeria’s national statement and participate in various high-level meetings

Vice President, Kashim Shettima has arrived in New York, United States, to represent Nigeria at the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

This was made known on Monday in a statement issued by his spokesman, Stanley Nkwocha.

According to him, the Vice President touched down at John F. Kennedy International Airport in the wee hours of Monday, and was received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar; Minister of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy, Dr. ‘Bosun Tijani, Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa, Nigerian diplomats, UN officials, and many others.

He went on to say Shettima was directed by President Bola Tinubu, to lead Nigeria’s delegation to this year’s UNGA.

Nkwocha added that the vice president would deliver Nigeria’s national statement and participate in various high-level meetings.

The 79th session of UNGA marks a crucial milestone in the global effort to accelerate progress towards the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
