Human rights activist and former federal lawmaker, Shehu Sani, has rebuked the person behind the fake news which stated that the United Arab Emirates (UAE), has lifted the visa ban on Nigerians.

A report circulated on Tuesday that UAE has announced the resumption of visa services for Nigerian citizens wishing to visit the country after a two year ban.

However, the Nigerian government quickly debunked the reports through Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy.

Refuting the news via his X handle, he wrote: “UAE has not resumed visa issuance to Nigerians. The document in circulation is not authorized either by the Nigerian government or the UAE.”

Reacting to the development via his social media page, Shehu Sani, who represented Kaduna central senatorial district in the 8th Assembly, said the individual who initiated the rumour “is not a good person”

He also noted that it was the third time since the visa ban that a fake story would be circulated.
