Sani noted that Nigerians are not holding their state governors who are closer to the people accountable.

Human rights activist and former federal lawmaker, Shehu Sani, has suggested that Nigerians should also blame state governors for not doing enough to ameliorate the sufferings of the poor, instead of chastising President Bola Tinubu alone.
He made his feelings known in a scathing post he shared on X on Saturday morning.
Sani’s commentary comes amid widespread anger at skyrocketing fuel prices brought about by the removal of petroleum subsidy.
The decision has further impoverished most Nigerians and brought untold economic hardship to many households.
Speaking on the impact of the fuel subsidy removal, Sani noted that instead of holding the governors who are closer to the people accountable, Nigerians are focused on the president.
The former senator added that while President Tinubu is being attacked and criticized by the people, the governors were smiling to the banks.
While addressing the saga, he wrote, “The Subsidy was removed.
The People are bearing the brunt. The President is receiving the bashing. The Governors are receiving the alerts.”
