Human rights activist and former federal lawmaker, Shehu Sani, on Thursday, asserted that the price war between Dangote Refinery and the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) is a “skit.”

The former Kaduna Central Senator made this known on his X page, while reacting to the decision of the President Bola Tinubu-led administration not to intervene in the feud.

On Wednesday, the Federal Government said it would not interfere in the petrol pump price face-off between the NNPCL and Dangote Refinery.

Stating the position of the FG, President Tinubu’s spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, said both parties were at liberty to determine their own market prices for consumers.

He added that all petroleum stakeholders are allowed to operate and set their prices according to economic market forces because it has been deregulated.

Speaking during a press briefing, Onanuga said, government is not dabbling to this controversy. Dangote is a private company, it’s working on its own. NNPC is a limited liability company and it has the right to fix the price of its own fuel.”

Reacting to the development, Sani tweeted, “Now that the FG will not intervene in the Price war between Dangote and the NNPCL shows that ‘the war’ is a Skit.”
