Shehu Sani reacts to Senegal’s election upset, says President elect, Faye ‘has changed the rule’

Human rights activist and former federal legislator, Shehu Sani, has reacted to the defeat of Senegal’s Ruling coalition candidate by a 44-year-old contender.

According to him, the newly elected President of Senegal, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, has changed the rules of the game in Africa.

He made this known in a recent post he shared on popular social media platform, X.

TheNiche had earlier reported that Faye, a 44-year-old member of the banned African Patriots of Senegal for Work, Ethics and Fraternity (French: Patriotes africains du Sénégal pour le travail, l’éthique et la fraternité), PASTEF, won the presidential election as an opposition coalition’s populist.

According to the electoral commission,
as at Monday, March 25, provisional results after Sunday’s presidential vote showed Faye with about 53.7 percent and Ba with 36.2 percent based on tallies from 90 percent of polling stations.

He defeated the Ruling coalition candidate Amadou Ba and he is expected to take over from the incumbent president, Macky Sall on April 2.

Reacting to Faye’s victory at the polls, Shehu Sanialleged that when French sticker, Killian Mbappe requested to play for Cameroon, the authorities demanded money from him .

Speaking on the election, the former senator tweeted’ “When Mbappe requested to play for Cameroon, they demanded money from him & then France gave him the opportunity to play for France.

“If he chooses to identify himself as French & not Cameroonian, he is right. Those who were with you in your moment of trials or need are your true friends.

“The new President of Senegal has changed the rule; behind every successful man there are two women.”
