Shehu Sani said so after Ghanaian VP, Bawumia, conceded after losing to opposition leader, Mahama in Ghana’s presidential election

Human rights activist and former federal lawmaker, Shehu Sani, has said only one presidential candidate has congratulated his opponent after losing election since Nigeria attained independence in 1960.
He made this known on his verified Facebook page, naming former President, Goodluck Jonathan as the only contestant who made such a gesture.
The Senator who represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District, made the remark after Ghanaian Vice President, Mahamudu Bawumia, conceded defeat to opposition leader, John Mahama and congratulated him following his declaration as Ghana’s president-elect on Sunday.

According to the ex-legialator, what transpired in Ghana is not obtainable in the Nigeria’s electoral system.
He added that any election winner in Nigeria who is expecting a call from an opponent who lost to him or her is day dreaming.
Speaking via his social media handle, Shehu Sani wrote, “Since our independence in 1960, the only presidential candidate who congratulated the winner was Goodluck Jonathan (I stand to be corrected). We no de congratulate each other after election na fight continue until another election. If you decide wait for phone call Congratulation, your battery go die.”
