Seyi Law, one of Nigeria’s A-rated comedians, was on the spotlight as he thrilled fun-lovers who gathered at the Seaside Bar, Ikoyi, Lagos for the Legend Extra Stout ‘Taste and Tell’ night. Since emerging as the 2006 winner of the AY Open Mic competition, it appears he has not slowed down a bit. The comedian delivered jokes that cut across various aspects of life, prompting bursts of laughter across the event venue.
He acted a fool and created amusing situations that spurred laughter and cheers among his fans.
Seyi Law, who dressed in white jumper suit over black T-shirt for the night’s show, has been active on Nigeria’s comedy turf for about a decade.
Equally, Platinum Blazers, a Lagos-based live band, was on the ground to entertain the fun-seekers with contemporary and old school tunes. The band performed a medley of popular gospel and secular tunes which sent the crowd dancing all night.
Indeed, there were no dull moments as the Eyo Dance Troupe leapt its way to the stage with traditional dance moves.
Beer enthusiasts and patrons of the seaside bar expressed satisfaction with the quality of entertainment on offer.
“To tell you the truth, am really having fun here. I never expected it would be this huge. Kudos to Legend Extra Stout,” Steve Obajemu, a 200 level English student of the University of Lagos, said.
The cool sea breeze from the Ikoyi lagoon added a soothing feel to the fun as the party rocked deep into the night. Fun and excitement have always trailed the ‘Taste and Tell’ night wherever it touches.
Beside the fun, Legend Extra Stout also used the opportunity to reward its loyal consumers through the ‘Taste and Tell’ challenge. Those who were able to identify Legend from two other stout brands smiled home with prizes which included a generator, an LED television set and a refrigerator, in addition to other consolation prizes.
Geoffrey Okoko emerged the winner of a brand new 9.5kva generator, while Oliver Obih won a refrigerator and Petrus Ossai a television set. Others who were not successful at the game went home with consolation prizes including crates of Legend Extra Stout, branded T-shirts and face caps.
According to Okoko, who said he works for a logistics company in Ikoyi, as a long time Legend enthusiast, identifying the brand was easy.
He said: “I have been drinking Legend for a long time and even if you wake me up from sleep, I can still identify Legend. The taste is unique.”
Emmanuel Agu, Marketing Manager Lager and Stout, Nigeria Breweries Plc., said apart from the fun and entertainment, the rationale for the ‘Taste and Tell’ game is to encourage those who drink Legend to spread the good news about the quality and distinctiveness of the product to others.
