Oxlade’s apology was posted on his Twitter account and Instagram story on Saturday evening.

In his apology, the singer said that he is not the kind of person who deliberately publishes such explicit content. He then apologised to the lady in the tape and to his “fans and well wishers.”

“I am conscious that my business is out in the public and I am not the type of person to put my personal business out there. Betrayals are very real and in this same token I want to apologize to the woman in the video, who did not deserve this type of exposure and lastly apologies to my fans and well wishers,” Oxlade’s apology read.

Oxlade had allegedly sent the video as a streak on social platform Snapchat from where it was recorded and posted online.

Reactions to the tapes have been mixed, with some hailing the singer’s presumed sexual prowess and others condemning the tapes.

Meanwhile, popular Nigerian media personality, Toke Makinwa has accused those hailing Oxlade of being hypocritical.

She said this while speaking on Rhythm FM, she queried those who are so quick to throw shades at a woman but hail a man who did the same thing.

Toke said: “ People have double standards because when it’s a man, people are like ‘what do you feel about it?’ But when it’s a woman, they want to crucify her.

“People need to stop being hypocritical, when it’s one gender, they hail them and ask to be taught the way but the female gender, it’s something else.”
