Seven ex-Imo PDP committee members defect to APC, back Uzodimma

According to the former PDP members, their decision to join the APC was based on the governor’s exemplary leadership style.

Seven former members of the Peoples Democratic Party’s Working Committee in Imo State led by its Deputy Chairman, Martin Ejiogu, have joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The former PDP officials were received by Governor Hope Uzodimma at the Government House in Owerri on Monday.

They pledged their support for the Uzodimma-led administration, promising to support the governor’s re-election bid come November 11.

According to the former PDP members, their decision to join the APC was based on the governor’s exemplary leadership style and good governance in the state during the last three and a half years.

Uzodimma commended them for taking a positive and bold step. He urged them to continue to support his administration to deliver quality governance to the people of the state.

This is coming barely 24 hours after the seven persons resigned and dumped the PDP.

Addressing a press conference on Sunday at the PDP secretariat in Owerri, the state capital, Collins Opurozor who was the state publicity secretary of the party said that the candidate of the party for the November 11 governorship election in the state, Samuel Anyanwu, doesn’t have what it takes to govern the state.

He said that he, the secretary of the party, Ray Emeana; youth leader, Greg Nwadike; deputy state chairman, Ejiogu; state woman leader, Maria Mbakwe; state Treasurer, Josiah Eze; and state vice chairman, Orlu Zone, Chibuisi Obido have resigned from their positions and equally dumped the party.
