All the sixteen countries that qualified for the 2022 FIFA World Cup Round of 16 stages have been confirmed following the conclusion of the group stage fixtures on Friday night.
Eight teams from Europe, one North American team, two African teams, two South American teams and three Asian and Oceania teams made the cut.
These countries are Netherlands, USA, Argentina, Australia, France, Poland, England, Senegal, Japan, Croatia, Brazil, South Korea, Morocco, Spain, Portugal and Switzerland.
As expected, Europe provided the highest number of participants in the first round of the knockout stages with Brazil and Argentina carrying the hopes of the South American continent.

Senegal and Morocco are the only teams from Africa, who made it into the round of 16, Ghana, Cameroon and Tunisia were all eliminated at the group stage.
Asian power houses, Japan and South Korea and one of the tournament’s surprise teams, Australia, will be representing Asia and Oceania continents, while the USA is the only North American country left in the competition.
The Round of 16 fixtures will commence on Saturday, December 3. with the Netherlands tackling the USA, while Argentina will face Australia on the same day.
Six other matches are scheduled to be played between Sunday, December 4 and Tuesday, December 6, to confirm teams that will progress to the quarter-final stages.
