Political activist, Deji Adeyanju, has alleged that the Senate committee Chairman on electoral matters, Kabir Gaya, and a member of the committee, Danjuma Goje, both of them All Progressives Congress (APC) senators, are the masterminds frustrating electronic transmission of result in the new amendment of the Electoral Act.
Adeyanju, who tweeted the phone numbers of the two senators, urged Nigerians to call and register their opposition against the removal of the vital reform which could guarantee a free and transparent election.
He said: “Dear Nigerians,Senators Danjuma Goje & Kabiru Gaya have vowed to ensure all our electoral gains are reversed. They insist they must recommend a ban on Electronic Transmission of Results. Please call, text, WhatsApp them,” he said, displaying their phone numbers on the tweet.
A Twitter user, @AriyoAristotle also mobilised agaibt the lawmakers. “The Conspiracy Thickens:Nigerians must mobilise against the plot to bar Electronic Transmission of Results & other important provisions.”
Another tweet from @SodiqTade added: “These Senators are working towards the rejection of Electronic Transmission of Result. Call and text them to drop the plot against Section 50(2). This is the only chance we have to achieve credible, fair and transparent elections.”
