At a enlarge meeting comprising leaders and executives of the party from President Goodluck own constituency, they stated that the existence of such character as Ikisipko and his fellow decampees in the party was adversely affecting the fortunes of the party.

It will be recalled that Senator Clever Ikisikpo, Hon. Nadu Karibo, the member representing Ogbia constituency at the Federal House of Assembly, Hon. Azibaola Omekwe, member representing Igbia constituency 1 in the Bayelsa house of assembly and Innocent Kaku, a former chairman of Ogbia local government council, all defected to the APC.

The four defectors who defected on the 14th of May, 2015, are all from Ogbia constituency, the same as the out-going President, Jonathan Goodluck.

In a press statement made available to newsmen after the meeting and signed by the Chief Gbalipre Turner, state Treasurer of the party, Mr. Budget Isaiah, Ogbia local government chairman of the party, Mrs. Faithe Opene, the state woman leader and two others respectively, they said that the movement of these persons to the APC did not come to them as a surprise going by their antecedents.

While calling on the APC not to rejoice of their new guest as they are sheep in wolves clothing’s, the party leaders noted that their actions has shown that they are bunch of ingrates who had ridden on the back of the party and its leadership to limelight only to turn back and stab them.

“That their exit has revealed the true nature and characters that have been in its fold for the past sixteen years which the party believed are some of the factors that had dragged it to its present situation both in the state and the federal level.

Their departure could therefore be summarily described as the best thing that has happened to our great party and we are now better positioned for a rebirth which will translate to greater successes and make the party move forward,” the statement added.

The leaders also noted that their lost bid for tenure extension was a burden too heavy to carry in a party they have served in various capacities and enjoyed huge benefits even as the expense of the party members and the electorates.

The statement adds. “They all share the view that their exit from their respective positions on expiration of their present tenure in office automatically translate to loss of political relevance if they should continue with the PDP and so decided to jump ship in order to cover their shame.”.
