The people of the South East zone, Nigeria, are well favoured in the 2016 budget.

Pastor Eze Nwachukwu, the factional chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ebonyi State, stated this during the party’s stakeholders meeting at Afikpo North Local Government Area.

He called on the people of the zone to continue to support President Buhari’s administration for more democratic dividends.

“When you look at the 2016 budget, the South East is well favoured. The second Niger Bridge is there and the PDP people wanted to remove it to discredit the government.

‘‘But President Buhari and Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu insisted that the Niger Bridge must be there. Dr. Onu insisted that there must be connectivity between the South East and South South.

‘‘Today, a railway that will start from Lagos and cut across the South East and terminate in Calabar has been started. When completed, you can travel to Lagos and come back same day and that is the government of change and the change we are talking about’’, he said.

He noted that President Buhari is fulfilling his campaign promises through the fight against corruption which has restored Nigeria’s image among the comity of nations.

He lambasted the opposition, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying that its 16 years leadership of the country was nothing but impunity and brigandage.

‘‘PDP people were looting our treasury; they were doing all manner of things with impunity. They were not considering the plight of the people. It was a government that never implemented up to 30 per cent of the annual budget for 16 good years.

‘‘What delayed the budget in the Senate is that the President wanted a sincere and transparent budget. They wanted to play pranks and he insisted and refused to give them bribe. He refused to negotiate with them and today Nigeria has a clean budget that will be implemented to the later and you will see it within this 12 calendar months’’.

Besides, the National Assistant Secretary of the party, Jacob Chukwu, who represented the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, called on the people to be patient with President Buhari’s administration and to give it necessary support to succeed.

He disclosed that the Buhari administration has concluded plans to establish additional six Federal universities of Science and Technology across the six geo-political zones of the country.
