Argentina coach, Lionel Scaloni has said playing as a team helped his side to thrash arch-rivals, Brazil 4-1 in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier played on Tuesday.
Scaloni’s team annihilated visiting Brazil in Buenos Aires, following goals from Julián Álvarez, Enzo Fernandez, Alexis Mac Allister and Giuliano Simeone.
The result leaves Argentina on top of the South American standings with 31 points from 14 matches, while Brazil are fourth on 21 points.
Speaking after the game, Scaloni suggested that his team scored a lot of goals against Brazil because his players “played as a team”.

He went on to say he does not know if the result is Argentina’s greatest victory, adding that the team had played great games prior to the encounter.
“This is a team victory. We played as a team, and that is why we were able to minimize Brazil,” Scaloni said at his post-match press conference.
“I really don’t know if it’s our greatest victory, we have played great games and doing great things in them.
“A team has to know what to do in different situations, and tonight, the boys did great.”
