Popular Ghanaian rapper, Michael Owusu Addo, aka Sarkodie, has revealed why he recorded a diss track to respond to his ex-girlfriend and actress, Yvonne Nelson after she alleged he forced her to have an abortion.

TheNiche earlier reported that Yvonne in her recently released controversial memoir, ‘I Am Not Yvonne Nelson’ launched on Sunday, June 18, claimed the singer abandoned her after he got her pregnant.

According to the thespian, his decision not to take responsibility after intimating him about the pregnancy pushed her to abort the baby.

However, Sarkodie debunked her allegations in his equally controversial song, ‘Try Me’, where he said even though he wasn’t ready to be a father, he told Yvonne to keep the pregnancy.

After the song was released, the ‘Country Side’ crooner faced a backlash on social media for his choice of words and for writing a whole track to diss the actress.

Addressing the issue in a recent chat with popular media personality, Angela Yee, the rapper said he did not address the issue through a formal channel because he might lose his cool.

Sarkodie, who claimed people often level allegations against him because they know he barely replies, said he decided to address Yvonne’s claims via a song to perfectly present his side of the story.

Speaking during the interview, he said: “The reason I didn’t do any media run or press around it [Yvonne Nelson’s allegations] is because I might lose how I would like to present what I feel about it.

“This is not the first time. I have done records to address certain issues, or maybe a line or two in a record. There is a certain energy I hate to fill into, especially speaking about it because I might lose my cool.

“With this situation, I’m not going to say I’m super proud of everything. The thing is just in a moment how I felt whether be my truth there should be a way I would have said it.

“That is why I don’t like to speak about it. This is a conversation between two people. We could have a conversation if you want to talk about it because it involves me as well. But because people know Sark doesn’t speak, people think they can say something and know Sark is not going to speak and they are gonna get away.”
