Sanwo-Olu commissions four strategic roads to ease Lagos-Ogun traffic

-

Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has commissioned four strategic road projects in the Agbado-Oke Odo Local Council Development Area of the state to bring relief to road users from the Lagos boundary communities into Ogun State.

Chief Press Secretary to the Lagos governor, Gboyega Akosile, in a statement, said by the launch of the projects, Sanwo-Olu has fulfilled yet another promise to the people of Alimosho, with the completion of the Phase II of Lagos-Ogun Boundary Road project by the state government.

The statement said the newly constructed road network  totals 6.26km. It includes Old Otta Road, Adekoya Road, Makinde Road and Suberu Oje Road.

Each project is a dual carriageway with reinforced concrete drains and walkways, the statement said.

Akosile also said that Sanwo-Olu opened a 120m-long bridge linking the boundary communities to Otta, Ogun State, as well as the remodelled Abesan Youth Centre constructed in Mosan-Okunola LCDA by the Ministry of Youth and Social Development.

The statement added that Agbado Oke-Odo residents were on the ground to receive the governor and members of his cabinet.

Sanwo-Olu said the road projects were conceived with the goal to provide alternative routes to Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway and ease vehicular flow between the two states.

He added that the new infrastructure would complement the network of 21 roads and two bridges already delivered in the first phase of the projects by the last administration.

The new roads, according to him, are also designed to abate perennial flooding in the area, while the roads will enhance traffic connectivity and shorten distance, reducing man-hours lost in traffic and the stress of commuting along the Old Abeokuta Expressway.
