The intrigues surrounding the dethronement and banishment of the former Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, deepened on Friday as he was set to depart Awe town in Nasarawa State.
Sanusi was dethroned on Monday by the Kano State Government, and banished to Awe local government area in Nassarawa State.
But on Friday, the governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, visited him. While he was still there, Justice Anwuli Chikere of the Federal High Court in Abuja ordered his release from confinement.
As at the time of filing this report, reliable sources informed TheNiche that Sanusi, who led the 2 p.m. Jumat prayer at the palace of Emir of Awe, would leave Awe for Abuja with El-Rufai.
El-Rufai arrived the town to visit the deposed Emir, a long-time friend, around 12:30noon.
