Sani via a tweet reminded the FG that Nigerians have heard similar promises from previous administrations

Human rights activist and former senator, Shehu Sani has told the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led Federal Government that Nigerians are tired of empty promises.
Sani made the comment on his official Twitter handle recently, while reacting to the Federal Government’s promise to lift Nigerians out of poverty.
The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, had on Monday, assured Nigerians that the Federal Government would lift 133 million Nigerians out of poverty.

She disclosed this, after the resumption of office while speaking with heads of agencies under the ministry.
According to Edu, the feat will be achieved through the backing of President Bola Tinubu, different interventions and initiatives meant to reduce poverty.
She said: “What is most important is that we will keep our focus on lifting 133 million Nigerians out of poverty.
“We can do it in phases, a step at a time because, with determination and strong will, nothing is impossible”
Reacting to the statement, the former Kaduna Central senator, reminded the federal government that the people have heard similar promises from previous governments.
The public affairs commentator went on to take a jibe at the government, saying the poverty Nigerians know is better than the unknown.
Speaking via his social media page, Sani tweeted: “The Past Government promised to lift the people out of poverty. The Present Government is promising to lift the people out of poverty.
“We are reaching a point where the people will beg the Government to please leave them in Poverty.
“The poverty you know is better than the one you don’t know.”
