His previous deal was scheduled to run out in the summer and there had been doubts he would stay with the Reds following comments he made about his future at the club.

However, in a recent interview with LFC TV, Salah cited the possibility of Liverpool winning more trophies as a major reason for him wanting to stay.

“If I don’t believe that I would have not signed. I believe the team can win trophies.” he said.

“With the support of the fans and the city, and the support they always give us in the games, I believe we can win many trophies in the next years.

“I think I said in the beginning of the season, I just want to win the Premier League more than anything else. I want it so bad, to be fair.

“The fans deserve it – last time we won it we didn’t celebrate it that much. Hopefully we do it this time. There’s still seven games to go, it’s not going to be easy at all because Arsenal are also catching up.

“We’ll give it our all and hopefully in the end we can win it.” Salah added.

The 32-year-old also reflected on his time in Liverpool so far, and expressed excitement about more wonderful memories to be made together.

“Of course I’m very excited. We have a great team now. Before also we had a great team. But I signed because I think we have a chance to win other trophies and enjoy my football.”

“It’s great, I had my best years here. I played eight years, hopefully it’s going to be 10. Enjoying my life here, enjoying my football. I had the best years in my career.

“I would like to say to [the fans], I am very, very happy to be here. I signed here because I believe we can win a lot of big trophies together. Keep supporting us and we’ll give it our best, and hopefully in the future we’re going to win more trophies, ” he further said.

Salah, who joined Liverpool from Roma in 2017, has won the UEFA Champions League (UCL), Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup and Fifa Club World Cup with the Reds.

He also scored 32 goals in all competitions this season, including 27 in the EPL as the Reds chase a 20th top-flight title.

He was one of three key Liverpool players who will be out of contract this summer, along with right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold and centre-back Virgil van Dijk.
