The Pharaohs of Egypt and The Teranga Lions of Senegal are expected to face each other in March when they meet again in the 2022 World Cup playoffs.

Egypt lost 2-4 on penalties after the two teams drew 0-0 over 120 minutes.

Salah was pencilled down to take Egypt’s fifth spot-kick after his Liverpool teammate Sadio Mane scored the crucial penalty.

But Mane’s spot-kick success prevented Salah from taking his spot-kick, as the kick became inconsequential due to the penalty-kick margin.

In the dressing room after the match, Salah urged his emotional teammates to put the AFCON final defeat behind them and concentrate on avenging the defeat during the World Cup qualifier in March.

He said, “We played four matches all 120 minutes in about 12 days.

“But it’s in the past now, we have the games against them (Senegal) next month and inshallah we will take revenge on them.”

Egypt play Senegal over two legs in a double-header World Cup playoffs at the end of next month.

The first leg will take place in Cairo on March 23, before the return leg in Dakar on March 29.
