Ruggedman chides Davido’s critics, says barking at singer won’t fix Nigeria

Ruggedman also urged the government  to fix the economy so that no one would make comments attributed to Davido in future

Popular Rapper, Michael Ugochukwu Stephens, better known as Ruggedman, has slammed those criticising ace Afrobeats singer, David Adeleke aka Davido, for saying Nigeria’s economy is in “shambles”.

He expressed his feelings on the trending saga via a post she shared on his official X page recently.

TheNiche had earlier reported that Davido while featuring on a recent podcast show, warned American citizens against contemplating relocation to Africa, especially Nigeria, saying the country’s economy is in a bad shape .

Speaking during the chat, he said, “It is not cool back home. The economy is in shambles. I do my part, l am an ambassador. When I go home and I am filming, I am not going to show the bad parts.

“I am talking about the situation in the country. Now the exchange rate is messed up, a lot of stuffs are not going well. The economy is just not good enough. The oil price is too high. Imagine the country that produces oil, paying more for it than a country importing oil”

After the podcast made the rounds online, the ‘Electricity’ crooner faced a backlash as many Nigerians reprimanded him..

Reacting to the public outburst, Ruggedman said Davido’s comment wasn’t out of place.

He urged the government to fix the economy so that no one would make similar comments in the future.

He further pointed out that criticising Davido isn’t going to fix the country, stressing that the hardship is unbearable.

Speaking via his verified social media handle, Ruggedman tweeted, “Ok Davido has said what he said, moving forward the government should fix Nigeria so nobody will say such again. All this barking all over the place is not fixing the nation. The hardship is too much.”
