Irish pundit and former Manchester United captain, Roy Keane, has predicted that north London club, Arsenal, will win their first English Premier League (EPL) trophy since 2004 this season, declaring that the title race “is over.”

He made the assertion while speaking on the latest episode of ‘The Overlap’s Stick to Football’ podcast.

Arsenal on Wednesday night responded to Manchester City’s  win over Fulham with a 2-0 defeat of Brentford at the Emirates Stadium.

A first-half goal from Mikel Merino and an extra-time strike from Bukayo Saka ensured that Mikel Arteta’s men secured the maximum points at stake.

The crucial win took the Gunners’ tally to 33 points and restored their five-point lead at the top of the table.

Arsenal have also pulled nine points ahead of Chelsea, who suffered a shock 3-1 defeat to relegation-battlers Leeds United.

While addressing Arsenal legend Ian Wright during the podcast show, Keane’s former United teammate, Gary Neville, said: “You lot have got to win it. You’ve got to win the league this season.”

Keane then chipped in, saying despite being the 14th league game of the season, the mid-week results show Arsenal have already won the league.

He said: “The league is over. It’s over. The league is over.”
