Manchester United legend, Wayne Rooney, might have inadvertently aimed another dig at his former Manchester United team-mate, Cristiano Ronaldo after admitting he prefers Lionel Messi to him.
Rooney and Ronaldo made headlines recently after the Portuguese suggested the Englishman was jealous of him after he made some remarks about him.
During the 2022 World Cup, Rooney took to Twitter handle to eulogise Messi.
Quoting his own tweet from 2012, which claimed Messi was the best ever, the DC United boss said: “Nothing has changed.”

And writing in his Times column, Rooney went into further as to why he picked the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner.
He said: “I played against him several times and it’s his ability to take and hold the ball, to control games, run at players, pass and score and be the difference. Close up, you just can’t get near him.
“He is always in control. If he has the ball at his feet, he determines everything, your decision-making included. Being his opponent is a difficult place to be.”
