Former Nigeria gaffer, Gernot Rohr has rubbished reports linking him with the vacant Black Stars coaching job, as he admitted managing Nigerias’ opponent will be a hard decision for him to take.

Ghana Football Association (GFA) sacked Milovan Rajevac after the Black Stars were ousted at the group stages of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) without winning a game.

Rohr’s name has since surfaced as one of the candidates being considered to replace Milovan Rajevac ahead of Ghana’s 2022 FIFA World Cup playoff against Nigeria in March.

Rohr, while speaking with NationSports, denied the rumour making the rounds, insisting he was not contacted by GFA for the job.

The 68-year-old also said that though he was approached by other countries’ FA to become their coach, GFA was never part of them.

He said, “I don’t have any agent and nobody is intensifying my candidature to coach Ghana.

“Of course, some countries contacted me and not me contacting them.”

The German tactician went on to say it will be difficult to coach another team playing against the Super Eagles.

“It would be difficult for me to fight against my former team,” he added when pressed further on why he doesn’t want the Ghana job.

Rohr was sacked by Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) after the embarrassing home draw against Cape Verde. Austin Eguavoen was thereafter put in charge of the team on an interim basis.
