Celtic manager, Brendan Rodgers, has expressed his delight after Super Eagles forward, Kelechi Iheanacho, scored on his debut for the Scottish club.

The former Liverpool manager hailed the important goal while speaking with reporters after the narrow win.

Iheanacho netted an injury time winner in the Hoops 2-1 victory over Kilmarnock at the Rugby Park on Sunday afternoon.

The 28-year-old striker, who was introduced with 20 minutes remaining on the clock, fired home from the spot deep into stoppage time to seal victory for the Scottish Premiership champions.

Speaking after the game, Rodgers noted that the goal will boost Iheanacho’s morale ahead of subsequent games.

“I’m delighted for Kels (Kelechi Iheanacho) because he’s a player who really feeds off confidence and love of coaches and supporters, and that goal will be very important for him,” Rodgers was quoted by the club’s official website.

Iheanacho moved to the Celtic Park on a free transfer earlier this month after leaving La Liga outfit Sevilla by mutual consent.
