Armed robbers yesterday attacked a bank located near the Lekki link bridge in Ikoyi Lagos, killing three persons including a policeman attached to the bank.
Several others, among whom were customers of the bank, sustained severe bullet wounds.
A witness said 12 bandits entered the bank in a speedboat through the lagoon and raided the bank for 25 minutes from around 5pm. They later escaped in the speedboat through the Lekki lagoon.
The victims included a female fish seller near the bank who was hit by stray bullet and a staff worker.
Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Kenneth Nwosu, said the Commissioner of Police, Kayode Aderanti, had begun move to nab the robbers.
“The Commissioner of Police was at the scene of the robbery. We are on top of it. But I can confirm that one policemen and two others were killed in the attack. I can assure you that we will get the perpetrators. An investigation has commenced”, he said.
