One of the twenty seven members of the Rivers State House of Assembly who defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the wake of the political jam lock in the state, Enemi George, has insisted that he and his colleagues will not be returning to his former party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The lawmaker made this known on Wednesday, December 20 while appearing as a guest on Channels Television programme, ‘Politics Today’

According to him, if he and the other 26 legislators that moved to the APC find the President worthy of their votes during the February 25th election, then it’s logical to give him their support.

He went on to explain that they have moved on and are now committed to supporting President Bola Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’.

Speaking during the chat, Enemi George said: “We have crossed the Rubicon. We have moved to the APC. We voted for the President, if we find Mr President worthy of our votes then I think we should find him worthy of our support.

“We have moved over to join his Renewed Hope Agenda to work hands in gloves with him to ensure that the expectations of Nigerians are fulfilled,” George said.

Rivers has been enmeshed in political crisis since the Governor, Siminalayi Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, who is currently the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister fell out.

The development led to a split of lawmakers in the House, with 27 of them who are loyal to Wike decamping from the PDP to the ruling APC, while the remaining peached their tents with the incumbent governor.
