Ilorin town came under siege as hoodlums pulled out bottles, machetes and guns to test strength, leading to pandemonium in the quiet city
At least one person has been shot and several others injured after rival gangs on Tuesday in Ilorin clashed for the second time in 24 hours.
According to the Daily Trust, the incident began on Sunday night following a disagreement at a social function that degenerated to a free-for-all.
It was gathered that a set of hoodlums from Isale-Jagun that was initially at the receiving end mobilised themselves to attack those at Adeta which further led to a reprisal attack on Tuesday.

The situation, however, escalated, leading to an exchange of gunfire among them and the massive destruction of at least 12 cars.
Guns, cutlasses, broken bottles and other dangerous objects were freely used during the clash which left many residents scampering for safety.
One person who was shot in the face is said to be battling for his life at a private hospital.
An eyewitness, who spoke on the issue, Muhammed Solih, told Daily Trust that the issue was between Adeta and Isale-jagun hoodlums in Ilorin West Local Government Area.
“It started on Monday after they left a social function, destroying cars and injuring people in the area.
“But on Tuesday, they continue on a more dangerous note, shooting freely in the process.
“One of them was shot on the face and is battling for life at the hospital”, he added.
The District Head of Adeta, Alhaji Hussein Anafi, called for the intervention of the security agencies to prevent further breakdown of law and order.
The Public Relations Officer of the State Police Command, Ajayi Okasanmi, who confirmed the incident, said three persons have been arrested over the fracas.
“Three suspects have already been arrested while one who was injured is in admission at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital,” he said.
