Labour Party (LP) 2023 gubernatorial candidate in Lagos State, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, has corroborated claims by ruling All Progressives Party (APC) that he sought the approval of former Anambra Governor, Peter Obi, before join the African Democratic Congress, ADC.
He made this known on Sunday while featuring as a guest on Channels Television programme, ‘Politics Today’.
Prior to this, APC Lagos chapter through its spokesperson, Seye Oladejo, had alleged that Rhodes-Vivour joined ADC to please Obi.
Reacting after the former governorship candidate left LP, he said, ” He is only following the footsteps of his mentor, Peter Obi, who is known for moving from one party to another whenever it suits him”
However, while discussing his decision to join ADC, Rhodes-Vivour echoed APC’s sentiment, saying Obi was aware of his plan to dump LP.

Addressing the topic, he said, “Yes. Certainly. A representative of his was at the declaration on Saturday. Peter Obi and I are communicating, we are aligned. There is no step I am taking that he is not aware of.
“We have all agreed that the only way for the opposition to have a successful election is through a coalition.
“Regardless of where anybody may be at this time, we are working towards that aim.”
Rhodes-Vivour formally left LP and joined the ADC on Saturday at an event in Lagos.
Speaking during the occasion, he said his decision was anchored on the need to strengthen a broad coalition of opposition parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.
