Rescuers comb Ibadan explosion site for survivors, as preliminary investigation reveals cause of deadly blast

Amid the aftermath of the tragic Ibadan explosion on Tuesday evening, rescue operations are intensifying for survivors in the Oyo State capital. The incident, which claimed the lives of two individuals and left 77 others injured, has prompted urgent measures from the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde.

Governor Makinde, who personally visited the scene at Adeyi Avenue, Bodija, not only confirmed the casualties but also shed light on the origins of the blast.

Preliminary investigations by security agencies revealed that illegal miners had stored explosive devices in one of the houses in Bodija, leading to the devastating explosion.

Governor Makinde emphasized that ongoing investigations would ensure accountability, with those found culpable facing legal consequences.

In response to the humanitarian aspect of the crisis, Governor Makinde directed the government to cover the medical bills of all victims affected by the explosion.
