The House of Representatives’ Committee on Public Petitions has ordered the immediate arrest of Shamsudeen Apelegun, national chairman of Tricycle (Keke) Association of Nigeria, for failure to appear before the committee to answer charges of financial misappropriation and abuse of office against him.
The committee noted he had been invited for over five times but never showed up, a statement on Thursday by the head of media, Chooks Oko, said.
In a unanimous motion, members of the committee ordered the Inspector General of Police to arrest and bring Apelegun to its next sitting on December 3.
A law firm, I.M Iliyasu and co, had petitioned Apelegun to the House on behalf of some aggrieved members but he is yet to show up to answer the charges.
