Remo Stars coach, Awakan cries foul in Omoku

Remo Stars coach, Bode Awakan has condemned the officiating in his team’s 1-0 loss to Go Round FC in the ongoing Nigeria National League (NNL).Awakan, who praised his players for their brilliant display, said the penalty awarded against his team was uncalled for.“It was a good game and everything about the game was okay until the penalty. I do not think it was a penalty and I believe the referee got it wrong there.“He made the mistake and the mistake caused us the match and that was why I was sad,” said Awakan in a chat with our correspondent.

Go Round FC on Friday managed a face saving win as they beat Remo Stars 1-0 at the Kris Dera Hotel Stadium.The goal, a penalty converted by Chiwendu Ali in the second half was all the Omoku based side needed to restore hope despite some poor results in the past,The first half ended goalless despite Go Round FC completely dominating play with the captain Nyime Nwagwa and Worlu most guilty of profligacy,The heavens opened up at half time and after deliberations amongst the referees, they decided to continue the game.

Not long after the second half kicked off, the home side got a penalty after a player was brought down in the box.

 

Remo players staged a walk out and remained on the side lines for 25 minutes before they returned to have the penalty taken.

Chiwendu Ali calmly tucked the ball in to give the homers all three points at stake and move them above Remo Stars on the table with 13 points.Former Super Eagles goalkeeper, David Ngodingha was on hand to watch the game in Omoku as he takes over as technical Adviser of Go Round FC from Tuesday.
