The kinsmen of Nollywood actress, Regina Daniels, have given her estranged husband and federal lawmaker, Ned Nwoko, a 48-hour ultimatum to accept the return of her bride price or risk a traditional declaration formally ending the union.

This was revealed by filmmaker Stanley Ontop, who shared a screenshot of the open letter signed by Favour Awele Obi on behalf of the community.

Regina had earlier alleged she was facing domestic violence in the marriage. In a viral clip, the thespian was seen crying as she stated that she “isn’t a queen” in her husband’s house.

Responding via a public statement, Nwoko attributed the tension between them to what he described as her “battle with drugs and alcohol abuse.”

He also claimed his efforts to help his wife seek professional treatment are always resisted, adding that Regina assaulted three domestic staff and destroyed his property.

However, in their demand letter, the actress’ kinsmen accused the Delta State senator of “disregarding local customs” and allegedly using his political influence to intimidate their family members.

They asserted that their tradition allows any woman to end her marriage as long as her family returns the bride price.

The kinsmen further stated that multiple attempts to return the payment had been turned down by Nwoko.

They warned that if he rejects it again, the money would be publicly placed at Ikeleke Quarter—a symbolic act that, under Ogwashi-Uku custom, signifies the dissolution of the marriage.

The letter also condemned the reported arrest of Regina’s siblings, describing it as an act of oppression, and called for the immediate release of the detained individuals.
