Redeem Church commissions borehole water to community to mark 25th anniversary

The Redeem Christian Church of God, Jesus House, Ogba in Lagos celebrated its 25th anniversary on Sunday 25th May, with hundreds of worshippers in attendance.

As part of the silver jubilee, the church officially extended borehole water to the Oladele community, also in Ogba Lagos where the church is located.

Though the church had always allowed people in the community to have access to its borehole water over the years, this is the first time the gesture was officially commissioned.

Speaking to the audience during the commissioning, the pastor in-charge of the area headquarters, Pastor Okeson Oche Onu said the decision was born out of the passion to help alleviate the struggles the people in the neighborhood face to access portable water.

“Several times I see people in the area go far in search of water. Occasionally they depended on vendors for water, the source of which they don’t know. This exposes them, especially children, to diseases, infections and other complications that might arise from bad water sources. It is in this spirit that we have decided to make water available to them daily. My late mother would always say, ‘don’t deny people water even if they are your worst enemies.’ Among other things, this is our contribution to the community. We do not ask anything in return,” he said.

Mr. Kingsley Igwe, Secretary General of the Landlord Association, who led members of the association to the official commissioning and speaking on behalf of the chairman of the Association, said: “We are very grateful to Jesus House that have been very much available to us since inception in this environment. It has been a peaceful and harmonious environment, and this is the height of gratitude that every tenant and landlord on Oladele Street owes to Jesus House for thinking about alleviating the struggles to access water in the environment. We are indeed very grateful for all this laudable project. May God bless you greatly.”

Pastor Olusegun Oyedemi represented the Pastor-in-Charge of Lagos province 60, Pastor Kunle Onafowakan to commission the project which attracted sincere appreciation from the people.

The anniversary celebration began at 1:25pm on Saturday with a 25 hours of continuous praise and worship to God in appreciation for the 25 years of His faithfulness.

According to Pastor Okeson, “the only thing we can give to God as our appreciation is our praises and worship, and it can never be enough. We are giving Him praises every one hour to represent each year of His grace upon Jesus House.
