Proscription of IPOB: Members go underground in Bayelsa

-

To avoid the reminiscence of what happened in parts of the country following the Federal Government’s declaration of IPOB as a terrorist group and the proscription of IPOB by the five governors of the South East of Nigeria, its members in Bayelsa State have not only gone under ground, but done away with all IPOB’s emblems and identity, revealed our reporter.

Before now IPOB banners, stickers, t- shirts, necklaces, caps and other accessories were usually worn by IPOB members  freely.

It was also gathered that in Yenagoa the group members have removed  IPOB stickers and other emblems that were conspicuously displayed in their tricycles (Keke)

Our investigation revealed that before now out of every 20 Keke that operated in Bayelsa State 15 of them had the flags or other insignia of IPOB flaunted in their tricycles, but after the reported clash between IPOB and security forces in Abia State, which led to the death of some of its members and similar clashes between the Hausa and the Igbo in Plateau State, all these had been removed to avoid being associated with the group following recent federal government clamp down and declaring them as terrorist group.

All efforts  to get the reaction from IPOB alleged leaders in Bayelsa State proved abortive.
