The Presidency has clarified that the slip by President Bola Tinubu while boarding the parade vehicle at the venue of the 2024 Democracy Day was a “mild misstep”‘.
The president had approached the waiting vehicle shortly after he arrived at the Eagles Square, Abuja venue of the programme.
A trending video on social media, however, revealed that he lost his footing as he was about to step onto the vehicle.
Despite the slip, the president quickly regained his balance and continued with the proceedings.

Reacting to the development after the video went viral on the internet, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, played down concerns over the first citizen’s slip.
Taking to his X handle on Wednesday, he tweeted, “Mr President missed his step while climbing into the truck at the June 12 Democracy Day celebration and tripped. It was a mild misstep.
” He immediately went on with the ceremonial rounds. No issues.”
The event at Eagles Square was part of a series of events to mark the country’s Democracy Day celebration.
But commenting on the fall, a worried former Vice President Atiku Abubakar said he hopes all is well with Tinubu.

He accompanied the tweet with the trending video of the fall, which looked very serious.
