Former Uruguayan international and Chelsea midfielder, Gus Poyet has advised his former club not to secure the services of Brazilian superstar, Neymar, this summer.

According to the South American, the Paris Saint-Germain forward will find it hard to adapt quickly to the physicality of the English Premier League if recruited by the Blues.

Neymar has been linked with a move away from PSG this summer, especially after some reports claimed he fell out with teammate Kylian Mbappe.

Teams such as Chelsea, Newcastle United, and Manchester United have been linked with the former Barcelona forward in the past few days.

He is also believed to be encouraged by his compatriot, Thiago Silva, to join the West London club this summer.

But Poyet, while speaking with LordPing, counselled The Blues against signing the talented Brazilian, whom he felt will struggle to find his feet in English football.

He said. “Chelsea should not try to sign Neymar. I think he will stay at PSG. I think after [Mbappe] Mbappe announced he was staying and with their ambition to try and win the Champions League, I can’t see him leaving,”

“I don’t think he would adapt quickly to English football with how physical it is. I can’t see him joining Chelsea” Poyet assed.

Meanwhile, Mirror reported that Neymar has made contact with Chelsea over a potential transfer after he discovered that Paris Saint-Germain are ‘happy’ for him to leave the Parc des Princes this summer.

The 30-year-old joined the Ligue 1 giants in a world-record £198million transfer back in the summer of 2017 and is committed to the club until 2027, after penning a new deal just 12 months ago.
