Oseni had hoped the Super Eagles would win the 2023 AFCON for Nigerians who died during their semi-final clash against South Africa

Rufai Oseni, a popular presenter on Arise TV has hit out at the Super Eagles following their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final loss to Cote d’Ivoire on Sunday, describing their performance as ‘Woeful’.
TheNiche had earlier reported that the Nigerian team failed to pick up their 4th AFCON title after losing to Cote d’Ivoire in the final.
The Elephants who began the tournament badly came from behind to beat Nigeria 2-1.
William Troost-Ekong gave the Super Eagles the lead, but goals from Franck Kessie and Sebastien Haller ensured Cote d’Ivoire cruised to victory.

Reacting to the defeat, via a series of tweets on his X handle, Oseni said Jose Peseiro’s men gave a ‘woeful’ display against the host, adding that they only had just one shot on target.
He went on to say he thought the team would win the tournament for Nigerians who died during their semi-final clash against South Africa.
While expressing his dismay, Oseni tweeted: “Don’t politicize this loss, it’s not about politics, the team was woeful.
“We had just one shot on goal! We were terrible today.
“So upset I really hoped the boys would win it for those that died during the semifinals.That makes me sad.
“So let’s go back to our problems, food is expensive ooo.”
