Police in Kano say they are interrogating a member-elect of the House of Representatives, Aliyu Madaki, over alleged unlawful possession of firearm.
The Command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna, confirmed this in a statement made available to the press on Wednesday.
Last week, Madaki, who was announced as winner of the election for Dala Federal Constituency, was seen in trending videos carrying a firearm when the presidential candidate of the NNPP, Rabiu Kwankwaso, arrived in the state.
At least seven persons were reportedly killed and several vehicles and other property were said to have been set ablaze in the violent clash that broke out when hoodlums attacked the supporters of NNPP on procession to receive Kwankwaso along Zaria road.
