Police officers exchange blows after Bala Mohammed, Seyi Makinde storm PDP HQ to dislodge Wike’s men

A fight broke out on Tuesday at the Peoples Democratic Party national headquarters when Governors Bala Mohammed and Seyi Makinde stormed the place to dislodge members of the faction loyal to the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike.
Wike’s loyalists, led by the factional national secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, had been occupying the secretariat. But in a forceful takeover, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed and his Oyo counterpart, Seyi Makinde, arrived at the secretariat with their security team to retake the secretariat from Wike’s men. The faction loyal to Wike, led by Samuel Anyanwu, was preparing to hold a meeting at the same venue.
A heavy deployment of police, officers from the Directorate of State Services (DSS), and other security personnel have been stationed around the Zone 5 secretariat, while supporters of both factions were seen drumming and singing near the venue.
The clash at the PDP secretariat is a fallout of the Convention held last Saturday in Ibadan where Saminu Turaki was elected as National Chairman of the party.
