The Nigeria Police Force has highlighted what vehicle owners in the country stand to gain from the introduction of the Electronic Central Motor Registry (E-CMR).
According to the force, the E-CMR innovation will revolutionize how vehicle information is verified and tracked, especially when stolen.
This was disclosed via social media platform X on Thursday by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
While listing some of the advantages of the E-CMR, he said with the technology, there would be “No more stopping to check papers” adding that police “officers are equipped with cutting-edge tech to verify documents in real-time”.

Adejobi also told vehicle owners registered with the NPF E-CMR that when a car get stolen, “you can instantly flag it as stolen through your online profile” and it will be recovered.
Inspector General of Police (IGP), Olukayode Egbetokun in July this year ordered the enforcement of the digitalised Central Motor Registry.
The IGP said the move was to modernize and digitize the motor vehicle registration system, and improve the nation’s safety and security framework.
He, however, softened his positions after a public outcry, saying E-CMR enforcement will kick off after adequate enlightenment.
