Police, however, added that an officer and six others lost their lives during the operation.

Zamfara State Police Command said its operatives neutralised a large number of bandits, including a wanted notorious kingpin ”Dan Mudale”, who had been terrorising Tsafe and its environs.
This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Office of the command, DSP Yazid Abubakar in a statement he issued in Gusau.
According to him, operatives from the command on Thursday repelled an attack by daredevil bandits in Keta town of Tsafe Local Government Area of the state.

“At approximately 1540hrs, a good Samaritan reported that a large number of armed bandits had stormed Keta town with the intention of perpetrating inhumane acts.
“In response, a joint operation comprising the Police Mobile Force, Counter Terrorism Unit, hunters, and Community Protection Guards mobilised and engaged the bandits in a fierce gun battle,” he said.
Abubakar, however, said one police personnel, four members of the Community Protection Guard and two hunters lost their lives during the operation.
The PPRO went on to say two hunters are receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre in Gusau.
The police further reassured the people of the state of its total commitment to restoring peace and urged citizens to report any suspicious behavior to the security agencies for prompt action.
