Police conclude Mohbad’s autopsy, await result

Police and some health officials in Lagos had earlier exhumed Mohbad’s body after the IGP’s directive

The Nigeria Police Force on Thursday night informed the public that they have “successfully completed” the autopsy procedure of late singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, aka Mohbad.

TheNiche had earlier reported that police and some health officials in Lagos State commenced the exhumation of the corpse of the artiste on Thursday afternoon to conduct an autopsy.

In an update shared via police police-verified X handle (formerly Twitter), the security agency confirmed the process has been completed.

They also promised to provide more information as they continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death.

“Mohbad: Autopsy Update

“The Nigeria Police Force wishes to inform the public that the autopsy procedure for Mr. Mohbad has been successfully completed. Further information will be provided as soon as the results are available,” the police tweeted.

Prior to this, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun, had ordered a forensic Investigation to unravel the cause of the death of the 27-year-old. 

Following the IGP’s directive, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, placed a ten-man team, including a pathologist to, exhume and investigate Mohbad’s death.

Lagos State Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the exhumation on the phone on Thursday.

He said: “The exhumation is currently ongoing. We have here a team of health officials from the state ministry of health led by CP Owohunwa. The CP is also expected to visit Mohbad’s father later in the day”

Mohbad died on Tuesday, September 12
under controversial circumstances and was buried the following day in Ikorodu, Lagos State. 

His death sparked outrage as many Nigerians took to social media to blame some members of his family and some celebrities he had dealings with.
