Police arrest 15-year-old boy for allegedly killing aunt in Kwara

Kwara State Police Command has arrested a 15-year-old boy who allegedly killed his aunt whom he was residing with in Ilorin.
Kwara Police commissioner, Adekimi Ojo, who briefed newsmen of the arrest said the boy, Gobri Yusuf, allegedly killed the woman by attacking her with household objects while she was bathing.
Ojo explained that the woman had taken the body into her custody after his mother, her elder sister, died.
He said that the from investigations the boy had been displaying some acts of indiscipline.
He disclosed that the boy had twice unsuccessfully attempted to kill the woman by poisoning her soup and watermelon.
The police boss said the boy confessed that he killed the woman because he resented her.
He stated: “On January 14, 2026, at about 2030hrs, a distress report was received concerning
the discovery of one Akanbi A (F) in a pool of blood at her residence.
Police operatives responded immediately and commenced a discreet investigation.
“Findings revealed that the suspect, who was residing with the deceased, allegedly concealed himself behind a door and attacked her while she was bathing using household items.
“During interrogation, the suspect confessed that the act was motivated by resentment and disclosed that previous attempts to poison the deceased had failed.
“After committing the offence, he changed his clothes and left the residence under the pretext of running an errand.
“He later contacted the deceased’s
husband, who discovered her lifeless body.
“The suspect remains in củstody and will be charged to court upon conclusion of the investigation.”
The commissioner also disclosed arrest of another suspect, Noah Olorunyomi who allegedly killed a person and shot another one in Erin-Ile in Oyun Local Government Area of the state.
He said that the suspect attacked the two persons over plucking of cashew fruits on a farm.
The police boss said the suspect while claiming that the farm belongs to him confessed that he shot the persons.
“On February 28, 2026, one Abdulsalam Lukman (M) of Atere’s Compound, Erin-lle, kwara State, reported at Erin-lle Police Station that on February 27, 2026, his younger brother, Shina R (M), alongside one Toheeb Suleiman (M) of Erin-lle, went to their cashew plantation farm to harvest cashew nuts.
“While at the farm, one Noah Olorunyomi (M) of Oluawo’s Compound, Erin-lle, allegedly ambushed and shot Shina R with a firearm, resulting in his immediate death.
“Further investigation revealed that earlier on the same day, at about 1500hrs, one Jubril M (M) of Erin-lle had also reported at Erin-lle Police Station that his son, ldris M (M), and another person had gone to a nearby river to bathe when the same suspect, Noah Olorunyomi, allegedly ambushed and shot ldris M in the abdomen.
“The victim survived the attack and is currently receiving medical treatment.
In the course of diligent and discreet investigation, the suspect Noah Olorunyomi was arrested and he subsequently confessed to the crimes.
“The suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation,” he stated.
