Playing politics with insecurity

-

There is something fundamentally wrong with Nigerian politicians. A man whose house is on fire does not pursue rodents. But that is exactly what our politicians are doing. Nigeria is on fire with bombs exploding everywhere, killing and maiming innocent Nigerians, school children brutally massacred in their sleep and school girls abducted by bandits from their school hostels perhaps to serve as sex slaves to terrorists and our politicians are busy bickering.

The ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is busy accusing the opposition party, All Progressives Congress (APC), as the brain behind the bombings and APC is equally doing the same. The President, Goodluck Jonathan, summoned an expanded Security Council meeting last Thursday and refused to invite APC Governors. That is childish.

Politicians should stop playing politics with the lives of Nigerians. We have suffered enough. Rubbing insult into an already bleeding wound is one callous act too many.
