Plateau lawmakers beg victims to forgive attackers

-

Members of the Plateau State House of Assembly have appealed to the victims of Jos killings to forgive their attackers.

The lawmakers visited the displaced victims of the Yelwa Zangam community of Jos North Local Government Area in hospital on Saturday, August 28.

The lawmakers’ visit was led by the speaker, Abok Ayuba.

Ayuba said the House was against the “killing of people in the state in whatever guise.”

The lawmakers  donated an undisclosed amount of money on behalf of the Assembly as part of assistance for the upkeep of the victims.

“We thank the management of the hospital for accepting the victims and we urge it to continue to give proper treatment to victims. We assure you that the government is committed to bearing the cost of the victims’ treatment,” Mr Ayuba said.

Receiving the cash gift on behalf of the victims, a member of the affected community, Samuel Jeje, thanked the lawmakers for the visit, and thanked the hospital for receiving and accepting to treat the victims without them depositing money.

Jovita Egwu, a reverend sister and administrator of the hospital, who received the speaker and his entourage, said that two of the 13 victims brought to the hospital died while the other 11 victims were responding to treatment.
